Trampoline or Floor?

Ever wondered.... which could injure you more... a trampoline or the mat? Let's see...

TRAMPOLINE
  • Shoots you up high, so you'll land farther down, and if you're a heavy kid, you just might feel the ground.
  • People are more confident in the trampoline's protection, so they try stunts that they'd never do on the floor, without a spotter on the floor, or their coach wouldn't approve at the gym.
  • Unless you are at a gym, you have a high chance of falling off the trampoline, which is even worse than the above. If you are going to tumble, use an in-ground trampoline or tumble track.
  • When on a trampoline, you have a paranormal sense of strength and flexibility, so back handsprings and tucks are effortless. But when the gymnast/cheerleader makes it to the floor, they usually gain bad habits like double bouncing (common problem with back handsprings) and absense of rebounding. Plus, they think they will jump higher, so they land on their head ON THE HARD MAT.
  • Overall, more gymnasts and cheerleaders are injured on the trampoline than any other mat.
MAT or SPRING FLOOR
  • Does not shoot you very high, so if you miss a skill, it's very obvious and sudden.
  • People are not very confident in the mat's protection, mainly because unlike a trampoline, it will not catch you when you fall, and you need a spotter or belt to help you.
  • You cannot fall off of it, but people fear it anyway, and you can hit your head very hard on it.
  • You are stuck with your normal body features, so if you don't have enough strength or flexibility, down you go. (Or up, if you can't do the splits.)
  • Overall, less gymnasts are hurt on the floor, but there are more strains and sprains here than anywhere else.
So... which is worse?
My conclusion is I'd rather get hurt on the floor than on the trampoline. The chances of paralysis and death are much higher there. I don't know about you, but in my eyes, trampolines should only be used in mini version, and they should only be used to help with jumps and leaps, not flips.
